National Birdwatching Bureau- Guatemala
The National Birdwatching Bureau is a group of institutions representing the public sector (Guatemalan Tourism Institute - INGUAT - and National Council of Protected Areas - CONAP); the private sector (Guatemalan Tour Operators Association - ASOPTUR - Private Association of Nature Reserves - ARNPG - the National Coffee Association - ANACAFE - The Nature Conservancy, Nature Defenders Association, Courterpart International, and more) and the education sector (Del Valle of Guatemala University, San Carlos University and Technical Institute of Training and Productivity - INTECAP-).
Our vision is developing the birdwatching business in the country and promoting Guatemala as a world class destination for this activity. It was created in 2004 and has grown at around 5 main work areas:
1. Institutional strengthening and financial management.
2. Birdwatching products development.
3. Training.
4. Marketing.
5. Researching.
Several documents about birds and birdwatching have been published in Guatemala and can be requested by e-mail to info@birdsguatemala.org or cdallies@gmail.com. Every year an international event is organized, and we invite you to participate in the V International Guatemala Birdwatching Meeting, to be held in Antigua Guatemala, on February 19 to 26, 2009.
